Privacy Policy
Save the Date
Effective Date: March 15, 2026
For a quick overview of how we protect your privacy, see our Privacy overview.
TL;DR
We record your date conversations, but only with both people's consent. The audio and transcript are permanently deleted as soon as your AI insights are generated—you get a receipt proving it. We keep your insights, your account info, and basic usage data. We never sell your data to anyone. We use third-party services to transcribe audio and generate insights (they're contractually bound to delete it too). We're a Georgia LLC based in Atlanta and comply with applicable U.S. privacy laws. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time.
1. Who We Are
Save the Date is operated by You're Telling Me There's a Chance, LLC, a Georgia limited liability company doing business as Save the Date, based in Atlanta, Georgia. We operate the Save the Date mobile application and website at getsavethedate.com (together, the "Service"). When we say "we," "us," or "our," we mean You're Telling Me There's a Chance, LLC. When we say "you," we mean you, the person using the Service.
For privacy inquiries, contact us at hello@getsavethedate.com.
2. What Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
- Account Information. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and any other information you provide during registration.
- Audio Recordings. When you activate a recording session, we temporarily capture the audio of your in-person date conversation through your device's microphone. This audio is transmitted to our servers (or our transcription provider's servers) for processing. The audio is deleted after your insights are generated. See Section 4 for details.
- Consent Records. We record the fact that both parties consented to the recording, including timestamps and the method of consent (e.g., in-app opt-in by your date via the invitation link).
- Communication Screenshots. If you use our "Know Your Audience" feature and upload screenshots of conversations with your date, we process those to generate a communication style analysis. These uploads are processed in real time and are not stored on our servers after the analysis is complete.
2.2 Information Generated by the Service
- Transcripts. Audio recordings are transcribed into text for AI analysis. Transcripts are permanently deleted alongside the audio once insights are generated.
- AI-Generated Insights. The AI produces personalized feedback and reflections for each participant. These insights are retained in your account so you can review them over time and so the system can identify patterns across multiple dates (longitudinal insights).
2.3 Information Collected Automatically
- Device and Usage Data. We collect standard technical information such as your device type, operating system, app version, IP address, and general usage patterns (e.g., when and how often you use the app, which features you use). We use this to improve the Service and diagnose technical issues.
- Crash and Performance Data. If the app crashes or encounters an error, we may collect diagnostic data to help us fix the problem.
3. The Lifecycle of Your Data
| Data Type | Deleted When | Retained? |
|---|---|---|
| Audio recording | After insights generated | No |
| Transcript | After insights generated | No |
| AI-generated insights | When you delete your account | Yes |
| Account info | When you delete your account | Yes |
| Consent records | Retained for legal compliance | Yes |
| Communication screenshots | Immediately after analysis | No |
| Device/usage data | Rolling ~12 months | Temporarily |
4. How Audio Deletion Works
We understand that recording a date is sensitive. That's why we've built the deletion process into the core of the product, not as an afterthought.
Once the AI has finished analyzing your conversation and generating insights, the following happens automatically: (1) the audio file is permanently deleted from our servers and any third-party transcription provider's servers; (2) the transcript used for analysis is permanently deleted; and (3) you receive a deletion receipt with a timestamp confirming the deletion.
The deletion receipt is your proof that the raw data is gone. Only your AI-generated insights remain. We do not create backup copies of audio or transcripts. Once deleted, they cannot be recovered by us, by you, or by law enforcement, because they no longer exist.
5. How We Use Your Information
- Provide, operate, and improve the Service
- Generate AI-powered insights and feedback from your date conversations
- Identify patterns across your dates over time (longitudinal insights)
- Communicate with you about the Service, including updates and support
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or violations of our Terms of Use
- Improve our AI models using anonymized, aggregated data that cannot be traced back to any individual
- Comply with legal obligations
6. Who We Share Your Information With
We never sell your personal information. Period.
We may share limited information with the following categories of recipients:
- Third-Party Service Providers. We use third-party services to transcribe audio and to generate AI insights. These providers process your data solely on our behalf, under contractual obligations to keep it confidential and delete it after processing. They do not use your data for their own purposes.
- Your Date. Your date receives their own separate insights. They never see your insights, and you never see theirs. No raw audio, transcript, or personally identifiable feedback is shared between participants.
- Legal Requirements. We may disclose information if required to do so by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request. However, because audio and transcripts are deleted after processing, we generally will not have this data to disclose.
- Business Transfers. If Save the Date is acquired, merged, or sells substantially all of its assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change.
7. Third-Party Services in Detail
- Transcription Services (e.g., AssemblyAI): Receive audio data to convert to text. Audio is deleted from their systems after transcription per our data processing agreements.
- AI/LLM Providers (e.g., Anthropic): Receive transcript text to generate insights. We use API configurations that do not allow our data to be used for model training.
- Cloud Infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud): Host our servers and databases. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
- Analytics (e.g., Mixpanel, Amplitude): Receive anonymized usage data to help us understand how people use the app. No audio, transcript, or insight content is shared with analytics providers.
8. Your Date's Privacy Rights
We take your date's privacy seriously, even though they may not be a registered user. When your date consents to a recording through the invitation link, they are informed of: what data is collected, how it's used, that they'll receive their own private insights, that the audio and transcript are deleted, and how they can contact us. Your date can request deletion of their insights at any time by contacting hello@getsavethedate.com.
9. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including: encryption of data in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest; access controls that limit who within our organization can access personal data; secure deletion procedures for audio and transcripts; and regular security assessments.
However, no system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we discover a breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you in accordance with Georgia's data breach notification law (O.C.G.A. § 10-1-912).
10. Data Retention
Audio and transcripts are deleted immediately after insights are generated (typically within minutes). AI-generated insights are retained in your account until you delete your account. Account information is retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period after deletion for legal and operational purposes. Consent records are retained indefinitely for legal compliance. Anonymized, aggregated data (which cannot identify you) may be retained indefinitely to improve our Service.
11. Your Rights and Choices
- Access. You can access your AI-generated insights at any time through the app.
- Deletion. You can delete your account and all associated data (insights, account information) by contacting us at hello@getsavethedate.com or through the app's settings. We will process deletion requests within thirty (30) days.
- Correction. You can update your account information through the app.
- Opt Out of Communications. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time. We may still send you transactional messages related to your account.
- Withdraw Consent. You can stop using the recording feature at any time. Note that audio and transcripts from completed sessions have already been deleted, so there is nothing to withdraw for past sessions.
12. State-Specific Privacy Rights
We are a Georgia LLC and comply with applicable U.S. privacy laws. While Georgia does not currently have a comprehensive consumer privacy statute equivalent to the CCPA (California) or VCDPA (Virginia), we voluntarily extend the following rights to all users regardless of where they live: the right to know what data we collect about you; the right to request deletion of your data; the right to opt out of any future sale of personal information (though we don't sell it); and the right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights.
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA). We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under California law. You can contact us at hello@getsavethedate.com to exercise your California privacy rights.
13. Children's Privacy
The Service is not intended for anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a person under 18, we will delete that information immediately. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, contact us at hello@getsavethedate.com.
14. A Note on Recording Laws
Georgia is a one-party consent state (O.C.G.A. § 16-11-66), meaning only one person in a conversation needs to consent to a recording for it to be legal under Georgia law. However, other states have different rules. If you or your date live in or are physically located in a state that requires all-party consent (such as California, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, or others), different laws may apply. Save the Date requires mutual consent as a core feature, which means you will generally be in compliance. However, it is ultimately your responsibility to understand and comply with the recording laws in your jurisdiction. We are not your lawyer and this is not legal advice.
15. International Users
The Service is operated from the United States and intended for users in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., you do so at your own risk and are responsible for compliance with local laws. Your data will be transferred to and processed in the United States.
16. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you through the app or by email. The "Effective Date" at the top will always reflect the most recent version. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
