Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about Save the Date.

General

What is Save the Date?

Save the Date is an AI-powered mutual reflection app for daters. It records your date conversation (with both people's consent), generates private AI insights for each person, then permanently deletes the audio and transcript. Think of it as an outsider AI perspective on every date.

How is this different from just asking ChatGPT about my date?

ChatGPT wasn't there. It can only guess based on your description. Save the Date analyzes the actual conversation — what was really said, your tone, engagement levels, and conversational dynamics. It spots patterns in 3 dates that would take you 30 to notice. And the insights are fun to read (Reddit-style AI personas with personality), not sterile AI output.

Does my date have to participate?

Yes. Save the Date is a mutual reflection system. It only works when both people opt in. That's what makes it safe and ethical.

What kind of insights do I get?

You get insights in multiple formats: a Reddit-style thread with AI personas reacting to your date, compatibility analysis, communication pattern analysis, and longitudinal trends across multiple dates. The insights are personalized to your specific conversation and communication style.

How long does it take to get insights?

Insights are typically ready within minutes after your date ends. You'll get a push notification when they're ready to view.

Privacy & Security

What happens to the recording?

After insights are generated, all audio files and all transcript content are permanently deleted from our servers. We don't keep your audio. Ever.

Can my date see my insights?

No. You each get your own private insights. You never see theirs, they never see yours.

What happens to my date's words?

Your date's words are always paraphrased in your insights, never quoted verbatim. Your own words may be quoted directly in your insights.

What if I want to delete everything?

One tap removes all your data — insights, history, everything. Permanently gone, no questions asked.

Is my data used to train AI models?

No. We use Claude by Anthropic, whose API terms explicitly state that API inputs and outputs are not used for model training.

Is my data sold to anyone?

Never. Our business model is subscriptions, not your data. We will never sell your information to third parties.

Pricing

Do both people need to pay?

No! Only one person needs a paid plan to unlock mutual insights. Both people download the app for free, and one just needs a subscription to start.

How long will the beta be free?

We'll keep it free until we're confident the experience is worth paying for. We'll give plenty of notice before any pricing changes, and early beta users will get special benefits.

Can I cancel anytime?

Absolutely. No contracts, no commitments. Cancel with one click and you won't be charged again.

How much will it cost after beta?

The Pro plan will be $7/month or $60/year (save 29%). Only one person on the date needs a plan — your date uses the app for free.

Using the App

How do I invite my date?

When you start a date in the app, you get a pairing code. Share it with your date — they'll enter the same code on their phone to join the session.

What if my date doesn't have the app?

They'll receive a text message with a link to download it and a quick explainer of what Save the Date does. One tap to say yes or no.

Can I use it on a first date?

Absolutely — that's actually when it's most useful. First dates are where you have the least information and the most to learn about how you come across.

Does the phone need to stay unlocked?

No! The app records in the background. You can lock your phone and put it face down on the table. That's the whole point — be present with your date.

Do people act differently when they know they're being recorded?

It's natural to wonder about that. Research on conversational recording shows that people adjust briefly but relax within a few minutes and return to their normal behavior. Think of it like a security camera in a store — you forget it's there. And since both people opted in together, it becomes a shared experience rather than a surveillance one.
